Here you can spend time relaxing, walking and watching the abundant lakeland wildlife or venture out to explore the great variety of towns, villages, lakes and mountains to be found in the Lake District National Park. Within just 6 miles is the market town of Kendal with our nearest public transport facilities, shops, pubs and restaurants. Nearby is the National Trust property, Sizergh Castle, a beautiful medieval house and its gardens.

Eight miles from Murthwaite is Windermere, always a popular spot with visitors to the Lake District, with its water sports, lake cruisesWorld of Beatrix-Potter and many other attractions. The delights of Ambleside, Grasmere, Coniston and Keswick are just a short drive further North, and to the South you can find Ulverston with its famous Laurel and Hardy museum or Holker Hall, probably the best-loved stately homes in Cumbria.

For those wishing to venture further afield the M6 motorway is just 14 miles away, providing quick access to the Dales and the Scottish Borders.

In South Cumbria there are several speciality food and farm shops offering a great range of local Lake District produce to sample and to take home.including the award winning Low Sizergh Barn.
